Advanced search

If general search does not meet your requirements, you can use advanced search criteria. When you use advanced search, the search criteria are classified into three groups:
  • Company data
  • Products and services and
  • Location

Different criteria may freely be combined, however they may not exclude each other.

During search the selected advanced criteria are written on the right side of the search window in »Selected search criteria«. If you want to start a new search, do not forget to delete the selected criteria by clicking the button »Delete criteria«.

In advanced search the search criteria can be defined in two ways:

  • by entering the searched key words – search items in the field of entry or
  • by searching and selecting the search items through the code lists

One or more words can be entered in the entry field and Pirs will always search by the word root.
If you search through the criteria selected from the code list, you cannot enter the search criteria by yourself, but you have to select them from the code list.

USE OF LOGICAL OPERATORS IN ADVANCED SEARCH

You can enter one or more words in the individual search field »Search« (we recommend you to enter, instead of the whole word, only its typical part, i.e. word root). When searching by entering more words, you can use also logical operators.

When to use the logical operators?

Logical operators in the frame of advanced search can be used in searching by the following data types:

  • Company data: name, e-mail address, responsible person, contact person, representative offices, references, SQ certificates, ISO certificates, advertising message

  • Location: street and house number.

The use of logical operators is the same as in general search. NOTIFICATION: When using advanced search, you can use logical operators simultaneously only in the frame of one type of data.

Practical hints

  • If you separate the words by gaps, the program will search for the companies which contain under data types included in the general search as search data, all the specified words at the same time.

    • If you separate the words with disjunction sign | (the combination of AltGr+w), the program will search for the companies containing at least one of specified words. So it finds all the companies containing the word »Alojz« or »Novak« among their company data.

    • You can also intensify the search by using round brackets which define the order or the method of integration. In the case below the program will find the subjects, where the word Novak and at least one of the words Janez or Alojz, will appear in the search field at the same time. (A gap in front of the word Novak is obligatory).

  • If you enter the sign # (»ladder«) in front of the word, the program will search for all the entries which do not contain the specified word (»a logical NO«). Enter # and Novak (#Novak) into the search field and run the search. The results will display all the subjects without the word Novak among their data.

There are some examples in the pictures below. Be careful when you enter the words, so that the specified criteria will not exclude each other. In real search, we usually do not use as many fields as it is shown in the example.
